About The Natural Hair and Color Studio
My journey back into the beauty industry began with a shift in how Black women embraced their natural hair. Over fifteen years ago, the move away from relaxers toward celebrating natural textures inspired a revolution. At the time, I had stepped away from the salon chair, but I couldn’t ignore the growing movement. I saw the potential for something transformative—not just for hair but for how we define beauty and self-care.
Near the end of 2017, I decided to get back behind the chair. Clients found me quickly, but I realized I needed to deepen my expertise to truly serve their needs. Hair coloring intrigued me deeply—it was complex, exciting, and just intimidating enough to spark my determination. I was committed to mastering it, knowing that healthy, beautiful color could transform not just hair but confidence.
I began my journey as a stylist in my kitchen, then moved to my basement, eventually renting a booth, and later a suite within a salon. Through hard work and dedication, I achieved my dream of opening my own location, XM Studios, where I spent three wonderful years growing and refining my business into exactly what I envisioned.
Now, I’ve transitioned to a more intimate and aesthetically curated studio space—a place where education and beauty seamlessly come together.
